When I work with clients through a 12 week plan. I always make sure they identify all of the signals they have before we get started. I want to know every last communication the body is telling them. Some people can list 100’s of things!

Why do I do this?
.
Because lifestyle changes coupled with supplementation and other habit changes don’t present in the same way that pharmaceutical intervention or surgery does.
.
The impact of surgery and pills is usually dramatic. We can feel what it’s doing pretty quickly but that doesn’t mean the body has healed quickly. What it means is the signal (aka symptom) has been silenced quickly.

Healing on the other hand usually happens slowly one layer at a time. The first indication that your body is beginning to heal is that you start thinking wait, “Am I getting better?”If you begin to question that maybe one signal you have isn’t as bad as it was before that almost always means you’ve crossed a new threshold. Don’t stop.

Seven was to measure if your lifestyle changes are working
1. You feel accomplished at the end of the day.
.
2. Your clothes fit better. You don’t feel like wearing the same old things all the time.
.
3. You feel satisfied after eating.
.
4. You are excited about the upcoming season and what you’ll be able to do. Hike, swim, fish, kayak, trips,new class etc. Feeling better means new lease on life.

5. You are getting better sleep. No plan for good sleep is self sabotage.
.
6. You are taking your supplements as directed. The body needs the building blocks to heal. Supplements do nothing for your health sitting in the pantry or fridge.
.
7. More energized motivated to charge forward!

If you don’t have 7/7 that doesn’t mean your lifestyle changes aren’t working. It may mean there is a need to adapt a few activities.

Check in on your time allocation. Make sure you are spending time where you need to be and don’t have a time suck still on your schedule.
.
Check your portion sizes and make sure mindless snacking isn’t still upsetting your progress.
.
Are your meals balanced? Getting enough protein, fats, carbs? Adding enough flavors? Spices,herbs sweet and savory to meals?
.
Are you spending a bit of time thinking about what you like to do and how good you will feel doing it?
.
Do you have a routine for bedtime and are you being good to yourself by doing it?
.
Are you taking things one step at a time and celebrating the small wins as well as the big ones?
.
Are you spending time with people who inspire and cheer you on or are you spending too much time cheering and trying to inspire?
.
It takes patience and a bit of time to build a lifestyle that we love.
.
It doesn’t take a lot of effort to fall into a lifestyle that we don’t necessarily like but meets our basic needs. Complacency happens without intention. We can’t expect a lifestyle that we fell into to bring us results we love.

A lifestyle we love is built with intention, rests on purpose and adapts to what we need.
